Shailendra Kumar


Shailendra is a founding partner of Equilibrium.

He has extensive experience in the valuation and strategic assessment of brands across sectors including luxury goods, financial services, telecoms, utilities, fmcg/cpg, broadcasting media and marketing services.

Clients have included Orange, Telenor, Thomas Cook, BBC, BSkyB, British Airways, Alitalia, the Development Bank of Singapore, Deutsche Börse, McKinsey, Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Heineken, Shell, and Samsung. He has significant experience in different markets around the world including North America, Western and Eastern Europe, the Indian sub-continent, South Africa and the Far East.

Shailendra is a regular public commentator on television, in the print media and has been published widely on the subject of brands, marketing and finance. He frequently speaks at conferences on the applications of branding to various industries and different business models is a visiting lecturer at leading business schools including INSEAD, Paris.

He was most recently a Director at the management consultancy, Prophet. Prior to that he was the Director of brand valuation and analytics at the brand consultancy FutureBrand where he was responsible for the development of the intellectual capital in the practice and growing the business in Europe and beyond. He started his career at Price Waterhouse in London (now PwC) where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant. After qualification he was the inaugural member of the PwC shareholder value practice before joining Interbrand where he cut his teeth in the world of brands with some of the pioneers of brand analysis.

Shailendra graduated from University College London where he read Economics and an intercollegiate program in International Relations at the London School of Economics.
